Ocean City, New Jersey Fishing Report Week Ending 12/10/11
In the Ocean City, New Jersey area, the Marinas and their fuel docks are closing or already closed for the winter. Most all of the boats in the area are pulled out of the water and sitting high and dry taking a well deserved winters nap. This past Friday, I took my CHARTER BOAT FISH TALE up the Mays Landing River and had her pulled out of the water and she is now resting comfortably in the boat yard. There are a few boats that have access to private boat slips and are going to keep fishing until the last minute before they too call it a season and pull the boats. The tackle shops are open yet getting close to closing. There are a few Surf anglers that are stopping buy the shops to pick up gear and bait. There are also guys stopping buy the various shops just to hang out and drink a cup of coffee and talk about the fishing season they just had. It is these bull sessions that stories get modified to make a good catch in to a GREAT CATCH. These Fish Tales will come to an end soon with many tackle shops closing the doors just after the Holidays.
So here we are almost to the end of the 2011 year. In the Ocean City, New Jersey area, there are still some Striped Bass being caught yet the fish also know the water temperature is getting colder and the time is now to be in the warmer southern waters off the Carolinas. Soon the fish will be south and many Captains like myself, will be working in their garages or basements cleaning Rods, Reels and making new rigs for the 2012 season. The winter months will go by quickly. Before you know it, it will be spring and we will be getting our boats ready to put back in the water. Until then, we will stay warm by looking at pictures of nice fish and remembering the laughs and stories of some of the great days we had on the water.
Here in the Ocean City, New Jersey area, everyone is getting ready for the Holidays. It is at this time I would like to say THANK YOU to all of you that have followed the fishing report for the 2011 season. I would like to wish you all a very HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON. This will be the last report for this year. Look for my fishing report right here starting next spring in 2012 when there are signs of fish to be caught. Tight lines and bent rods. THANKS AGAIN.
**** Now in effect, NJ has a SALTWATER REGISTRY REQUIREMENT of ALL anglers fishing in NJ state salt tidal waters. Registration is free. Hefty fines can be imposed if you are not registered. For more info and to register online, go to www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/index.html
